Is there a person in your life that you absolutely hate? Did
that person’s face just pop into your mind? If it did, then you might not be
feeling so great right now. But wait – let’s make that better – right now.
Hell, let’s just fix it for good. Right now. Yep, I’m serious.
First, let’s get something straight: hating another person
in your life does nothing but hurt you. If you think that you are punishing a
bad guy by just disliking him or her, then you’ve got it all wrong, and the person
you really dislike is you. Hanging on to anger is something you do TO yourself.
You certainly aren’t doing it FOR yourself and it sure is hell doesn’t help
anyone else.
Let’s assume that this hate you feel is from some
“unforgiveable” act this person has committed against you. Shame on them for
hurting you. Right? You may think that if
you forgave that person you might be actually condoning whatever bad thing they
did. Nothing could be further from the truth, my friend. Forgiving a person just releases you from the
continual hurt that you are subjecting yourself to right now.
Your continual hurt means nothing to the bad guy. Nothing. Nada.
Zip.
Not forgiving someone is like drinking poison and waiting
for the other guy to die. Well, today is the day you free yourself! And here’s
how:
We are going to do a meditation – yes – meditation. Even if
you have never tried to meditate before, you can do this one and I’ll talk you
through it. This meditation opens up the door to the
future and clears out all the junk that's holding you back. It’s called Ho’oponopono.
This
is an ancient Hawaiian practice of forgiveness meditation that helps to heal
anger and guilt between people. With Ho'oponopono practice, you agree that your
present reality is all your own doing. Yes, wherever you are, you are the one
who drove you there.
The
great thing about trying this meditation is that the letting go of anger and
blame happens very quickly. Almost instantly, really. But that doesn't mean
it's easy.
The
first time I tried it, I stopped in the middle. I actually said "NO!"
and refused to continue. But after a few minutes I went back, tried again, and
my life has never been the same.
Here is a Ho’opnonpono meditation I have made for you. And it
only takes 6:37 to fix that little problem of hating someone.
